This is just a basic overview of what you need to do to get the game running and connect to the server. (pictures refered to coming later)

1. Download UT2K4 via torrent.

2. Inside, find Setup.bat in the main folder and right click, edit. This is the text file that will pop up.

3. Find “set ID=” about 9 lines down from the top. Mine is labled “set ID=I:/UT2k4”. This is the install directory. Whatever you type after the “=” sign will be where the game will be installed into. The second thing you need to change is set TD. This is the temp directory for files that are getting extracted.
Set these 2 to wherever you want to unpack, create temp files, and install. Save and exit.

4. Right click Setup.bat again and this time choose “Run as administrator”, if a pop-up asking you to confirm if you want to run in administrator shows up, select the “change when i recieve
these notifications” link, then lower the User Account Control to never display, even if you don’t recieve the popup, use the search on your start menu
and type in User Account Control and select the option to change your control settings, just make sure the slider is all the way at the bottom.
You will have to restart your computer for this. Then run the setup file as administrator to install. This will take some time. type n(lower case) to
the y/n question about direct x at the end and hit enter.

5. Once installed, download UTpack2 from the website.

6. Unzip, place the two .dlls (make backups of the originals just in case) from the first folder into your system folder inside the UT folder. Then, take
the contents of the UTRPG folder and place them directly into your main UT folder, say yes to all the replacements.

7. You will need to download Hamachi. The server is “Faded Life .Net” and must be exact. Password is “faded”.

8. Before opening UT2K4 change compatability mode to Windows XP SP2 or SP3. You do this by right clicking the shortcut and selecting Properties. Then locate the Compatibility tab at the top. Select the option to “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” then select “Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or 3)”. Also check the setting at the bottom to Run this program an administrator. Once you are in the game change your name and avatar by going into settings. Also, find the menu shown below by going to settings,
select the input tab, then click configure controls at the top left of the menu. Scroll down to the very bottom of the menu to find this
one labeled UT2004 RPG, set the key bindings to whatever. I suggest Z, X , and C for the use rune, prev, and next rune buttons respectively.

9.Go to join game, select the favorites tab, right click, and add favorite. Add the hamachi IP from “Travis-PC” which is currently “5.210.162.139” and the server should pop up.
connect to start downloading.

9.Now, you can connect to the server and download all the paks. If you get a CD key error, there is a list of CD keys and a CD key changer already in
your main UT folder. You can use these to change your CD key in case some of you are using the same one.
